Earlier today, U.S. EPA published in the Federal Register its final regulations revising the NSPS and NESHAP for the Oil & Natural Gas Production source category (40 C.F.R. Part 60, Subparts KKK, LLL, and OOOO).  We previously discussed the substance of the draft rules EPA published on April 17, 2012.  EPA’s overview fact sheet, its summaries of key requirements, a summary of key changes from the draft final rules, and other materials can be found at EPA’s webpage for this rulemaking.

The final rules become effective on October 15, 2012 and apply to sources that have been constructed, modified, or reconstructed after August 23, 2011.  This blog will provide a more detailed analysis of EPA’s final rules in the coming days, particularly as they apply to gas wells and specific operations at gas processing facilities.
